Every year, more girls run from forced marriage and FGM in northern Kenya than Samburu Girls Foundation has beds for. We’re going to change that – by building a safe shelter home so no girl is turned away.

WHY NOW?
Samburu is a county of red earth and slow horizons.
It is also, by measure of the United Nations, one of the most dangerous places on earth to be a girl.
In Samburu County, almost nine in ten girls undergo female genital cutting. Many are married off – sometimes to men three or four times their age – before they finish primary school. The Samburu Girls Foundation shelter is the only safe place for hundreds of miles – and it is full. The building is decades old, structurally failing, and built for 60. We cannot turn girls away.
